h22a in EF ????
Will an h22a fit in a 91 Honda civic ? I know u would have to dent in the firewall a little bit for it to fit into a CRX..and im guessing that it should fit in because it fits in a CRX...and how much can i find a h22a for?
How do you know an H22A fits in a CRX so easily? This is a project I wouldn't tackle unless I had a LOT of free time...
I'd say you could pick up an H22A for about the same price as a Type R motor, if not cheaper. They're not quite as called-for, but they're hardly common either, both of which might jack the price up over a B-series swap.

i was arguing against this swap on another board

I second the motion to NOT try this. I have a cousin that owns a CRX and works in a shop. He attempted this swap and FAILED. He is VERY good with his hands, and extremely good at fabrication. Plus he has shop resources at his disposal and still couldn't manage it... I wouldn't recommend it at all. I was just talking about the engine prices in my above post, though

My friends know this guy that dropped his H22a motor in his 89 CRx and it runs 13.1 with a mugen header and thats it...he needed a little help but my friends told me he did a succesful job and theres no knocking or anything
I know it's not too tough to do in an EG or EK Civic, but the EFs... I dunno. If you know someone that knows someone that did it, well, you could try it too. Myself, I'd say the extra lengths you'd have to go to would make the swap more of a pain in the *** than anything. Do you *really* need to be the fastest/best? Not trying to mock you, in case it sounded that way. Just ask what you're really looking for. I have a RealAudio file on my computer of a 1st gen CRX with a Prelude motor at the dragstrip, smoking an NSX in the 1/4 (I think it ran 12s). Sure, it's cool, but how much did it cost in custom stuff? And how long would it take him to change the timing belt, for example?
i have done one...and will never do one again....do you know how much **** you have to do to fit that motor in there, obviously not. it is a b$@ch. if you want to go ahead, but break out the saws because you will be cutting the car apart.

I have heard of a 87 rex with a H22, I think it ran a 12.60 bone stock. I know its hard and cost a lot of money, but as long as you relize it...go for it. Take the discouraging info as advise and rise to the challenge.............
I guess this is for drag racing, but keep in mind also how horrible the handling is *rumored* to be (I say rumored because I have no first hand experience with it)
i don't really see the point when a B18C swap can produce similar times on the strip, is lighter and is easier to install. Plus a lot of the drag cars running 11's, 10's or 9's are using a B18C.
i know of a shop that has done it several times if not more...problem is it will never be a street car because of the weight of the motor...i have also heard heavy understeer limit it to the drag strip...
Trip on this I saw a 86 CRX at Palmdale's LACR it was bone stock and it ran a 13.4 at 2600 feet elevation he was squeeling the tire's all the way down the track. The swap can be done and it can be streetable without a doubt. But it will take alot of money and time
