Default ECU flash, is this a code???

ok, i'm having problems with my car starting. We just rebuilt the a6 and it has I/H/E and a centerforce clutch, dual friction. We just hooked everything up and tried the main relay, its clicking so its good, i think. the check engine light comes on when the relay clicks, i looked at the ecu and the led display isn't blinking. It's not blinking but its illuminated, the light just stays on. what could this be???

Dead ECU.....HAve you had your ECU chipped?? Ususally it happens from a bad solder.... if its been chipped. Its a MPFI ECU its not recognizing the ROM...that was my situation but mine would start. Your ECU should only flash on start up not be on constantly
