Default Turbo Kit From Domestic

Is it possible to take a turbo off a 1988 ford thunderbird turbo coupe and put it on my 92 honda prelude si h23a1? If so will it take alot of work? From a mechanic that would be advanced and knows what he is doing?

i dont know too much in the way of turbos but if you were just trying to use the turbo the hardest part would be trying to find a exhaust manifold to bolt up to it, i dunno what kidna turbo ford thunderbirds used tho so.. it might be difficult to source one.

it will probably take a bit of custom fab work...but anyone who's got the skills should be do it with a little creativety...and if your willing to spend some $ too of copurse.

yes its possible, i am in the middle of making a custom kit, out of all the junkyard turbos the one off the thunderbird should flow enough on our engines for a 6.5 to 7psi boost setup. Ive wanted to boost and im planning on using one of these turbos with a revhard mani . the thunderbirds have a t3 in them. good luck

would it be cheaper to do it this way or to buy a bolt on kit and what is the price range for both?

by the time you buy some fuel management, and have custom pipign made, I htink you'd be betetr of spending the extra $$ on a proven turbo kit with quality parts. You get what you pay for.

got any pics of that setup? .. But yeah i agree with jz, you can make an ok kit for around a grand that should work just fine. I mean many will disagree and say that its never going to be as good at a direct fit kit, but doing a junk yard setup is a good place to start esp if you don't know if boost is worth the $
