Good Car Alarms?
Well after doing a bunch of work to my car and ripping out my old Prestige Platinum Alarm(literally grabbed it and ripped it out) because it was a piece of s*it and never worked right i need to find a new alarm. Anyone have any suggestions, recommendations?
thanks
thanks
Actually any DEI product will be fine, there are lots of systems out there that have a hundred add on sensors, to suit your needs but Viper, Python, Automate, Avital, Hornet, & Clifford are all owned and produced by DEI ... they have a lifetime warrenty, and give you protection from theft, all alarms do the same thing, they are most just a piece of mind, if someone really wants your car or things in it, the alarm isn't going to stop them ... I have been installing alarms for years and I am a MECP first class installer, I haven't seen one alarm that is all the much better than another ... only difference is the ease of installation ... good luck
yea its mainly just for peace of mind that i want one, rather my car making noise if someones trying to get in it than none and be worried about it.
thanks guys, gonna go shopping tomorrow for one.

lol I did many things with a platinum prestige back in the day...
An alarm is only as good as its install. Make sure you don't buy something that's too expensive, and then cheap out when you get it done.
Good installs should have hidden wiring, you should consider a $20 battery backup siren, get it way up in the dash, passive starterkill, fuel cut etc.
when you pick an alarm, pick it based on the features YOU want. Don't buy a no name, most people say this because of aftermarket PLUG in sensor support (most any alarm can be made to accomodate sensors from different manufacturers).
I've ran a prestige platinum for about 3 years now, decked out and modified like you would NOT believe.
Get the installer to also put fuses on any and all inputs, secure the alarm with a backstrap that does not make a ground connection with your chassis.
If you got the money, Clifford AG4 is a board favorite, lots of features already built in, no need to buy extra stuff off the bat, plain and simple.
