Im new to the sportbike world and still a novice rider but I've worked hard
and want a new bike eventually I'll be using the bike mostly for roadracing.

a great all around bike is the F4i... its comfortable enough (for a sportbike) for longer rides.. the seating position and height isn't outrageous for city driving -- lots of aftermarket parts since the bikes been around a few years, fuel injection is SWEET that bike moves out, and best of all you'll be getting them at closeout prices since everyone wants the RR -- or save even more dough and go with a one or two year old model. LOL i learned how to ride on one of those bikes an '02.. probably the most forgiving of all the new 600s IMO.

I'm all for honda motorcycles, but if you plan on road racing, suzuki has a great contingency program. Thats why many riders in AMA, WERA, etcetc use gixxers.
Frankly though, everybody around here is completely convinced that suzuki sport bikes are gods gift to motorcycles, and they're wrong. . .

before daily driving duty was but into the equation... I would have said 636 or R6. But for all around... I would say more towards suzuki depending on size of person.
If you don't care about discomfort or stiff suspension on the daily commute, but badass track bike, then this is it
If you want just OK street but superb track, then Honda or R6.
don't mind the long reach of the Suzuki, and all around good bike then this is the one you want.

Remember the 636 kicks you up out of 600cc brackets. You mentioned roadracing so you should keep that in mind. In fact to be competitive and have a decent learning curve, I would really suggest a 500cc class twin. I would say 4 stroke 250cc but I doubt you'd go for it.
I went from a 2001 Gixxer 600 to a 2003 Yamaha R6. I love both bikes but in my opinion the Gixxer was much more stable especially at high speeds. Plus it offered better wind protection. I'm thinking that once there's a steering dampner made for the new R6 it will feel a little better. The new CBR RR is pretty nice too, just a bit to pricey for me plus I didn't like the fact that it doesn't have a storage compartment which I constantly use on my bike. Which ever 600 you choose will be a winner though because they are all good bikes.

I just picked up my first bike on Saturday an 03 CBR F4I. I was torn between the R6 and the F4I, but like mentioned above the CBR, in my opinion, has a better riding position. It isn't as quick as the Gixer or the R6, but it’s quick enough for me.
