well he mostly talked about motorcycle engines in the article.
my auto shop teacher thats was a mechanic for 20 years said that its not the best idea to push it really hard for atleast 200 miles but it wont make that big a differece either way becuase eventually everything breaks. but i do want to break it in the best way anyway.
but this makes me all confused tho. it is nice if i could push it from the start makes it alot funner thats for sure

Not the type-s but for my ITR....
I never push it hard when the engine has not warm up....(even now with 30K)
when my car was new I stayed below vtec for the first 400 mi, then did a oil change....go to the vtec once a while but only stay in vtec for a second or 2. Did another oil change around 1200-1300 mi. then go into vtec more often but still no constant full throttle. Another oil change at 2600mi-----> redline every gear
that's my break-in process.....so far I never had any problem on the motor.

maybe because thats how your auto shop teacher was taught. and it just went by the book. because according to that article. the crosshatch dissapears after 20 miles or so.
i just theres just so much controversy because auto manuals say dont, and if you dont, theres no problems anyways.
i guess people are just scared to try so

You guys know that at the dealerships, the detailers and maybe mechanics have already gotten your car into VTEC multiple times before you even saw it right?
ya i was thinkin that the people at the dealership abuse the car a little bit before they sell it.
the only reason pretty much that i dont wanna try that break in because i am scared thats bout the only reason holding me back
the car that we are getting has 15 miles on it
so i dont think they could have hit vtec too many times anyway

i was hittin vtec all the way home from the dealership with only 14 miles on it. you can hear vtec but it doesn't sound as good as it is with an intake. i have 7100+ miles on mine now, no problems
yup screw it im goin to hit vtec when we get it my mom said that we will share the car and so im pretty happy with that so i get to drive it back by myself and her and my dad r goin to drive the mini van
well i got the car today i got to drive it home then i drove it around a lil bit but i decided not to hit vtec then 20 miles later i was like just once so i went and chirped 2nd and then ive been nice to it since hopefully i can withstand doing it again but it wasnt as qucik as i thought it would be it seemed slower than a gsr it didnt even throw me back that hard
we waited for about 500 miles & then my gf really wanted to race her friend w/ a prelude & well, she won. but i beat the hell out of the type s that we test drove- i feel sorry for whoever bought that one. the salesman was a friend so he didn't say anything when i stretched out the car's legs on teh test drive it had liek 4 miles on it & we tested i-vtec's limits in 1-3rd & part of 4th before I was satisfied. and to whoever said it's like a gsr you are wrong, tehy are totally different cars, speedwise in stock fashion they mey be similar, but there is more to the car than just acceleration
