I know this is kinda random but i just feel the urge to write this.
Last night i was at a local car meet that we hold ever sunday. A friend of mine rolled up with his S2000, dark grey, CF hood, red honda emblem, Injen Intake, and HKS exhaust. WOW! First tiem i saw it and i was in love. Later on he was giving people rides. and luckaly i got my foot in the door cuz i ws the last person he gave a ride to...and i was so amazed at the VTEC... I got a SOHC Vtec engine, and his vtec was like hitting a switch and turning on the lights it was so significant. I was shocked...he freaking gunned it and i almost creamed my pants. the fact that the vtec range is 6000-9000 and when he shifts it stays at 6200, it was just amazing...It was just beautiful.
I guess i should make this a tech, so...Does intake really have that much of an influance on vtec ? i mean i have intake and all i know is my car gets REALLLLY loud...not faster exactly..but his...just OMG...so please so its not such a random story...does it really change it that much ?

yea its called a SOHC...hehe..i have a sohc and i heard my vtec kick over today, thanks to that s2k...seamless is stupid!...i want it pronounced..u know ur in vtec!
well for the most part the intake will just make things louder. The car howls when you let off the gas when you take the top of the stock intake box off. I did that once, scared people
I have been playing with intakes for the S2000 for the last year and have come up with some wild designs so far but for all my testing there really is no bump in transition to VTEC with the S2000 from a simple intake. In fact the intakes often smooth out the transition and you can feel a very small reduction in power in the very very top end.
You should hear my car at full wail with the exhaust dump and the little short range intake that I have brewed up. Sounds like a 2 liter sport bike going off right next to your head.

loudness obviously depend on the kind of exhaust that you get, from not much louder than stock to your neighbors knowing you're coming home from 3 blocks away. there's also the variation of single or dual outlet.
Suprisingly, the NSX has a very mellow vtec x/over. First time around the block I was expecting a fierce bellow at the back of my head, but I couldn't even discern a "click" like I have in the ITR's, s2000's, and 5th gen preludes of yore. Then again the NSX has, probably, the most attractive torque curve, and the smoothest (i.e., linear) mode of acceleration this side of a 550 maranello or z06. Plateau. Know it. Love it.
I mentioned the z06 aka LS Chevy big block.
The Audi & BMW are nice, especially the new V8 M5's. Brilliant, but both sedans that don't feature the aura of a mid-engine car. The 550's linearity is phenomenal, and for a FR retains a lot of "engine sound"; the induction note is almost as severe as a MR.
