prelude 2.3 rebuild
i have a 93 Si lude and it's been smoking for about a year. now it burns about a quart a week. the problem has been narrowed to the piston rings. now i'm looking at rebuilding my bottom end. this kind of snuck up on me and i haven't had enough time to research everything. any advice as to brand names of pistons, rods, etc. would help. should i raise my compression if i don't plan to turbo but DO plan to nitrous? how high should i raise my compression? it's a daily driver. the option of boring the pistons has come up. apparently this is a common problem amoung the 2.3. any good information is desired.
I have searched this info. but everyone has a different opinion on which brand name they like best and every brand name web page is bias of their own brand. i plan on getting the car into the shop within a couple weeks so i'm short on time. i think the best way is to find someone who has, or knows someone who has done something like what i'm doing. hence, this forum posting.
He's talking about your sleeves and the FRM... not the brand of pistons. Unless you use the new wiseco design pistons, you have to sleeve your block for forged pistons. p.s. lower compression is usually ideal for nitrous.
