Subject: [nasatristate] NASCAR/FOX = The death of Speedvision?
Well, NASCAR is at it again. This time they and FOX network (the new Axis
powers of motorsports?) are positioning themselves to embark on a takeover
of
Speedvision, with the goal of converting our beloved and diversified
motorsports channel into a NASCAR network that will "also cover other forms
of racing" (yeah, right!) I don't know about you but I've had about enough
of
NASCAR, FOX, and their WWF style excuse for motorsports. If you feel the
same
way, read the attached message below and support the Speedvision petition to
keep its current programming alive! Pass this along to your fellow
grassroots
racers before it's too late!

Well I believe Fox already has deals with Speedvision as alot of there Touring Car and other events like the recent Le Mans race has been featured on Fox courtesy of Speedvision.
Fox owns 1/3 right now. they are planning to own 80%, and nascar will be a much bigger part of it too:

I like NASCAR, but I too also like the other forms of racing. You have to admit that alot of times on SV that there is absolute BS in shows on. I think the aquistion of SV by FOx would greatly improve the station, Look what Fox did for NASCAR rating this year alone. They had the highest rating EVER in the 51 years of the sport and they lost one of the biggest names in racing and its still growing.
Boba- who thinks it will benefit alot of people with the new station ownership.

I'm all for Fox taking over Speedvision - I don't even mind more NASCAR stuff, god knows they can replace boat racing, and airplane shows with it.
What I do not want to see is them taking off Formula 1, Rally cars, World SBK, motoGP, sportscars, etc. There just needs to be some NASCAR moderation and balance and we should all be happy.

Yep, as long as they don't mess with F1, I don't care what happens.
BamBam, who makes up at 4:30 am PST every other Sunday to watch Formula 1 live on Speedvision.

My favorite part of speedvision is watching REAL cars like porsche, vipers, type-r, NSX, M3, etc race on road tracks. It just doesn't get better than that. Nascar is brain-dead crap. Not one ounce of skill required(if you don't believe me, watch them on a road course. Its comical).
NASCAR on a road course is like fish out of water. Spins, missed lines and apexes, and pretty much no road racing skills, except for maybe Jeff Gordon. Those guys know only on thing, how to go round and round for 3 hours, only turning left.
(No offense to those who like NASCAR, I just don't)

"We understand the significant investment FOX has made in promoting stock car racing, but we do ask that changes made to the format of the network be made with a minimal amount of disruption to the other outstanding programming presently shown on the totally unique Speedvision network"
just wanted to point that out
thanks
