is the antennae on the new accord really the defroster?
My FD RX-7 has a seperate AM antenna in on the back window. It's not the same line as the defroster..but it's back there.
My 89 prelude has a second antennae above the defroster lines that works in conjunction with the mast on the rear quarter panel. The factory radio recieves both signals, and then switches back and forth between the two, depending on which is stronger.
My TL has the antenna integrated in the rear window as well. Look at the headliner in the rear of the car where it meets the upper portion of the rear window glass. You'll see a small plastic "box" protruding -- that contains the leads for the antenna.
My 94 Accord has the antenna integrated into the rear window but the actual antenna part is separate...

They are two seperate grids.
They are two seperate grids.
Can you imagine the static on AM with the defroster on if they used the same wire? There are two separate grids, as stated by a couple of people above.
