Default Your opinions needed about body kits...

I'm thinking of going with a VIS Racing kit for my 93 hatch. Don't want to go over $800, cause I'll still need a paint job. I got a quote from Honda Autobody Shop for $1200, include all repairs to the body (dents, scratches, etc.) plus paint job.

Thinking about just a front end too. Something light. Don't really need a big rear bumper to catch wind in it. Veil Side front is only $630, fiberglass/carbon fiber construction. Strong and light weight.

I know VIS kits are just fiberglass. Urethane is strong but heavy. And I don't really want a Wing West kit.

What material are you guys using/prefer? Brand names?

I just need a better idea for a strong lasting product. I don't want it cracking or shattering after going over one speed bump. My Andy's Auto Sport, yes you can laugh, front cracked in one day. Not even rough driving.

Thought abou that...then I could save the $1200 for more goodies. All I know of is Spoon Sports though (I haven't looked hard for C/F products though). Does Spoon or any other high quality C/F producers have sites?....prices?

One other thing I forgot, the two shops I go to.....one pushes VIS Racing, the other Aerogear. They'll get what I want if I choose different. But I thought those were two odd companies to push.....unless there is something I don't know.

Yeh i think if you got a c/f hood and lip it would look wicked and then spend the rest on some other goodies
Sorry I don't know of many sites for hoods etc because I dont live in the US but yeh Spoon's front lip is really nice, not sure who makes good hoods though...

Fiberglass:

Pros:
Lightweight
Cheaper
More Readily available

Cons:
Shrink and Expand in temperatures
Tend to shatter and crack a lot
There are a lot of badly made kits out there
Weak

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Urethane:

Pros:
Strong
Bend back into shape from accidents
Don't shrink or expand as much
Higher Quality
Last a lot longer

Cons:
Heavy
Pricey
Few kits are made of Urethane

I hope that helps you.

Thanks guys.

Hey crxforum, what about the Veil Side front? It's just part fiberglass, mixed with the carbon fiber. Still have the same effects since it had fiberglass in it? I'm pretty much ruling out fiberglass (VIS) now, but if Veil Side's front won't have those effects, they also offer the qualty and aerodynamics, whicj would be nice to have.

veilside is an overpriced producer of exterior STYLING. i don't buy any of their mass produced products actually improving aerodynamics.

i agree with the above statement , with that said, just buying a front bumper and a veilside at that for a civic?? if ur gonna go kit, do it right and get the full kit..... also do u have rims?? if so what size?? the reason im asking it that one if ur cars rims are small ur kits gonna be close to ground, so now u have a damaged kit and ur car is a bitch to drive.... plus it might not look right..........

fiberglass is coo, but u have to baby it, i know plenty of people that have had fiberglass with no problems, but u got to really love ur car and treat it like that.......looking at ur situation i would say go with a lip kit or something like that........but whatever u get good luck with it, keep it clean, and do it right......with kits u cant take shortcuts, PAY THE MONEY TO GET IT PUT ON RIGHT!! and to do it right isnt cheap..... how bout 400-600 just to paint and put on the kit

Veil Side doesn't make a full kit for the 92-95 hatch though, just the coupe. ANd it's around $2400.

yea i know, damn thats a grip for a civic coupe kit ( and im sayin that as a civic coupe owner!!) some places now make popular kit styles in urethane, or any kit u want in urethane for a upgraded price....... look in ur super street mag, and check the ads on alot of these places that just sell kits u will see that mentioned.........also check out GTP body kits.......i think there addy is http://www.importfan.com or something like that........they sell thick fiberglass kits, alot of other companies do too...........

that might help ya out

Thanks for speeking your opinions guys. Urethane will 99.9% be the way now.

Pworld: Before I do buy, I will check out your info on those kits with a thicker fiberglass compound.

One last question guys....since some of you are saying just a CF lip, is there any other style than a Spoon? The Spoon looks identical to the Wings West, and I'm not to fond of it, plus a ton of peeps already have it. If a lip is the outcome, I'll go with the Tsunami Hardline. If that style is avalible in CF I'm there. If ya know please do tell.
