The kick that you feel is the jump when VTEC engages. Depending on your header, it can increase/decrease that kick but in general you'll still feel the kick. The V-AFC is what gets rid of it.

yup. the feel doesn't really matter (at least to me it doesn't) as long as you gain some decent power.
i don't even feel mine anymore because of my current set-up but i hear it kick in. my mid range power improved after adding the greddy header so that eliminated the feel of the kick a little, but it was the SFC that actually made it almost unnoticable. however, my power curve is much smoother and i love it.
