Default Weird occurence with a 93 hatch im about to buy

Hey everyone, I found a clean 93 hatch that I am probably going to buy soon. A few things confused me about it. It says it's a 'CX', but I know the CX does not have side moldings. This one does, and it's also black, and I thought the SI only came in black??? Also, it has no power steering, which I know the CX doesn't. It has the 'CX' factory looking sticker on the back. Also, the door handles are glossy black, instead of the flat black on Si's. Question being, do people ever put side moldings on a car that doesn't have them? Also, back in '93 could one get a CX black from Honda for a fee??? If someone could clear this up it would be appreciated. I'll look at the engine code again next time and report back. Thanks
-Joe

I have a 93 CX, it's white with glossy black door handles, oem side moldings and and oem EG lip, pimp huh?? The guy I was buying it from said he got like 50 calls in 4 days and when I was picking it up he said if I don't want the interior he has a buyer for it and he has a buyer for my lip too but I didn't sell anything. Who cares if it's CX or DX if it doesn't have a sun roof it's not an Si and the waight difference between the CX and DX is like 100lbs, thats not much, hatches are hard to find.

There are no disadvantages. It's already been swapped over to a mph speedo and whatnot, right? It might have DRLs.

Yeah my VX says Honda of Canada in the engine bay. I dont think there is any difference. About the side moldings, I thought all CXs came with them and only the VX never did.

CX/VX didn't come with moldings but some people added them on when they bought the car. Useless damn things anyway, I have tons of dings.

Questions :
Do people ever pull the original motors out of their cars and put faster ones in them?
Do people ever put different wheels, suspension, exhaust, paint, etc. than what came with their car originally?
Then what makes you think that someone my have had molding on the car or the car painted black?

Check the VIN and stop losing sleep over this.

you should get a carfax check on it.....it is possible that it could have been in an accident and the body shop got lazy and painted EVERYTHING on the car (if it was major damage)

well be happy. sounds like you got a nice hatch there.

lucky its a cx. cx has much cheaper insurance. for me personally, a cx compared to my 2dr ex, its like $1500+ cheaper a year.
