Oil pan gasket on 90 Accord
How dificult is it to replace the oil pan gasket on a 90 accord with an auto tranny. Do I have to drop the exhaust pipe to get the oil pan down? thanks
If it's the same as the 92, yes you have to drop the pipe. There are 3 bolts in the block that go through the oil pan, and then are held on by nuts. If it wasn't for those 3, you could do it without removing the downpipe. See what a 90 owner has to say first though.
theres 3 14mm rusty nus on front of the pipe securing it to the manifold, 2 12mm nuts securing it to the back of the block. you'll also have to remove the trans cover (3 10mm bolts)peel forward the splash shield to ease removal of the pan.be sure to apply some gasket sealant to the 4 corners(where the gasket meets the crank, the 2 valleys.)torque pan to 10lbs./ft. and check for leaks. good luck.
Thanks for the oil pan info. I might as well replace the exhaust pipe while I have it down too. Its the original and is 13 years old.
