jdm front end questions
Hey, i am going to be doing a front end conversion this summer on my 99 gsr. I kinda want the mugen front bumper instead of the bumper that comes with the conversion kit. Does anyone have any idea how difficult it would be to sell the bumper that comes with the kit? I know a lot of people are doing the conversion now, but they usually need all the parts and not just a bumper.
I'm also interested in getting rid of the hood that comes with the kit too...so same thing goes for that. Think it would be really hard to get rid of those parts and my stock parts? Also, i have a question about insurance. This will be the first big thing i will be doing to the car, so i want to know if insurance companies usually cover this kinda thing? Like say the car gets stolen (since that happens to tegs often), would insurance cover all the work that has been done? Would i have to save receipts? If anyone has any idea on this stuff, i'd be glad to listen! Post what you know or instant message me. Thanks.

I don't think you should have a hard time selling those parts - I'm sure with the right price, you can get rid of it if you wanted to that badly.
Also, insurance is your friend. Save all receipts!!! For all the money it costs for the JDM conversion, it would be a bad investment if you didn't claim it under your insurance or at least saved the receipts.

I don't think the YOU pay for JDM parts would cost more than what insurance will pay for the OEM parts. But most insurance will cover just about anything you can prove that was bolted to the car.
no u won't have a hard time selling the oem front bumper & grill. we sold my roomates rather quickly. As for whether or not insurance will cover anything... that really depends upon ur insurance company... but new oem USDM parts are just as expensive as replacing used OEM JDM peices. So i wouldn't worry too much.
Just saw some guy selling exactly what you are looking for on ebay, but the kit was painted yellow and right front fender had minor damage. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...06348 Check it out. He's located in Socal though.

Thanks so far!
No, i have not bought the kit yet...i am trying to decide what i want to do cuz i'm pretty sure i don't want the bumper that comes with the kit. I'd like to get the mugen bumper actually. You think it would look good with cf hood?

Yeah, i'd like the real mugen bumper...mad $$ though, but hey, that's what summer jobs are for.
Also, i am going to call my insurance company about this cuz i want to make sure they cover ALL of it...and see if i have to send receipts or anything like that. I'll post when i find out.

So...i found out that i can probably buy a front end kit without hood and bumper (passwordjdm says they can do that, i emailed today), which would save me some green...not sure how many options i'm going to have by doing this though...
And yeah, that's some long distance...don't know if i could handle that.
hehehehe
I better get off here...i have a paper!

contact IC Roger and see what he can do for u in the ways of the jdm conv... he's a great reliable guy to do business with.. i vouch for him.
when i crashed my civic i had a fiberglass blitz front bumper that basically was blown up into tiny pecies. i just showed my insurance company pics of it and they paid for it all.
the only thing was I had to get all the replacement parts before they were all aftermarket. the CF hood and bumper and CTR headlights and volks.
they did replace it all for me, and i only had a recipt for the CF hood.
i use statefarm insurance and jsut had alot of pics of my car before the accident.
