Default My 93 accord vibrates at stops.... help!!!

hey everyone.. i'm new on this board... First i wanna say "hi!"

Then i have a questions. My 93 accord with AT vibrates when i stop at a stop sign or red light. the steering wheel vibrates, and the idle is really low ~500rpm.
I think making the car idle a little higher will help. Any ideas?

thanks,
khoa

probably not the answer you are looking for but it seems a lot of Honda's do this. Mine has done it since i got it and they did replace that motor mount in the front and it didn't do much of anything. Got the car at 36K and now have 265,000 and runs fine but still vibrates, also it does it a lot more when the a/c kicks in. Or even the fans kick in to cool the car.

Mine used to idle hard too (not erratic, just hard) even though it's a manual. New front and rear motor mounts completely fixed it for me. I also did a meticulous tune up, which included all the usual stuff, plus intake manifold gasket, upper & lower plenum gaskets, TB gasket (and clean TB too), checked all vacuum hoses, and checked all diaphrams (brake booster, EGR valve, distrubutor vacuum advance unit, etc) with a vacuum pump to make sure there were no leaks. After new front and rear monts, adjusting the transmission mount, and fixing a small vacuum leak caused by the distributor vacuum advance, she's idling smooth as silk. Even now with the A/C on and the compressor running along with both fans (would that be getting close to the load of an a/t stopped in D??), at 800 rpms you can barely even feel it running at all it's sooo smooth, or even hear it really. And my motor has no balancer shaft/belt to make it smoother! haha

New front and rear mounts should be a huge improvement though, assuming it runs smoothly to begin with. When I put my new mounts in, they were a good .5-1 inch taller than my old worn out originals, which I'm sure is what was causing the harsh vibrations.

thanks everyone for replying. I just washed and waxed my car. people say you don't know your car until u've washed it for the first time. I'm glad to report that nothing new has popped up.
Anyways, i will pop the hood and check the engine mounts to see what's up. other than that, i don't know what to do. the car is serviced by the dealer when it's supposed to. (previous owner had 60K, 75K, 90K, and 120K minor done already) It runs really well, just vibrates and idles low at stops... ok, i'll go check on it. thanks again.
