Default burning oil

i checked my compression and i was ~190 on all 4,,, does this mean bad valve seals?? i get a little puff of blue smoke between shifts, but i don't burn enough to have to top up between oil changes,,, help me out so i don't replace the wrong thing!!

If you have alot of blue smoke in the higher rpm range, its most likely a valve seal. If there is blue smoke at idle, it's usually piston rings.

Um... compression has nothing to do with it. The top 2 piston rings are for compression. A 3rd one, toward the bottom of the piston, controls the oil. Sounds like that's your problem. When you are accelerating, blowby is keeping the oil pushed down, but when you shift, that creates a vacuum in the cylinders and oil is getting sucked past the wiper into the cylinders.

You can throw some STP (blue bottle/thick) in it for now, to help control the burning, but it sounds like you need an overhaul IMHO.
