Default Still an oil leak :(

Replaced the oil cooler seal that looked culprit and checked the rear main, cleaned up all the spilled oil and now today it's still dripping off the transmission housing on the bumper side, no visible leaks from above

any ideas?

oil pan seal... the little 3 inch long gasket thing on the tranny side

rear main seal

one of those are probably the culprit.

This is a long shot but did you change your oil pan gasket at some point? I had an oil leak similiar to what you have. I pulled the damn tranny and changed the main seal (PITA) and that still did not fix it. Took the oil pan gasket off a second time and reinstalled and still it leaked. Finally took to the mechanic. Oil pan gaskets on Hondas have tiny little metal washers embedded in them. (At least they do in 3rd gens.) When I removed the old gasket one of these washers stuck to the oil pan. Put on the new gasket and the two washers stacked up and created a gap that caused the pan to leak. This is probably not the case with you but I thought would add my .02.

yeah it really doesn't appear to be pan related, usually after i take it to 7500 i can smell some burning off the manifold and some residue on the bumper side of the tranny housing

i feel your pain. I have a leak in my h22 also. I don't think its the rear main, looked fine the last time i had the tranny off. I replaced the oil pan gasket and thats fine now.

What is involved in replacing the oil cooler gasket? I think this may be my problem, the oil leaks right onto my downpipe and smokes at every stoplight.

it's pretty simple, one 30mm nut like thing you can grip onto holds the shaft in the block which presses the oil cooler to the block, don't remove the coolant lines from it though unless you feel like eating a radiator full
