HELP PLEASE!!!!! pinging/knocking in a B18B1!!!!!!!!!!
i JUST changed my oil....i had 5w30, and i just changed it to 10w30 with new oil filter.....regular oil, not synthetic.....and now, i just started hearing engine pinging/tapping sounds from the head....it sounds like a bent valve or something....any suggestions?

air/fuel mixture?? check your combustion chamber.. could be caused by excess heat and compression, advanced timing or an overly lean mixture

I was using 5-30 for a while and it made the same noise... I found out that my main barings went out on me and so my entire block is fawked.. When my main barings went out it made my rod loose and made my piston hit my valves.. Better get that checked out or else your gonna have to get a new motor, just like me................... peace........

ok now you just scared me dude.....the sound is more of a "ticking" sound that comes from under the intake manifold, and it only happens when the engine is warm......i guess i'll have to get it checked asap.....any other suggestions??!!

Yeah, I think it's better to get it checked then get a new motor... It's not fun not having a car... I've been a** out for almost a month now without a car... I'm so despret now that i'll even settle for a 88 corolla... atleast i'm getting places... just get your valves checked out and your valve spring checked out. like i said better to spend a couple hundred and a couple thousand on an engine...... good luck...
