I say start w/ the basics I/H/E... or you might want to start on your suspension first (shocks & springs)...or put it toward some rims!!

 

Whats up with suspension? Everyone is doing that before I/E/H now a days...

I'm trying to add a little speed. I was thinking a VTEC head, VTEC controller, and I/E/H. That pretty much somes up my $1,000.

With a thousand bucks...here's what I'd do, no matter what kind of driving you plan on doing.

Falken Azenis on stock rims....195/60/14's= 220 after install
Ground control coilovers with custom rate Eibach springs= about 350
KYB AGX's or Koni Yellows= about 250-300 for the set
front strut bar= 40 bucks shipped for cheap Mugen replica on ebay which works great


That right there is only 860 to 950 for all that. Your car will handle better, better acceleration, and faster braking.

Edit- Why spend 1000 on a head and bolt ons when you can get a full sohc vtec swap for less than that that will still beat it for less money!? It will have a better tranny, original everything, etc. Get a sohc swap and start piecing together a turbo kit. That would be the way to go strictly for speed

 

Find a d16Z6 or a d16Y8, with tranny $800 or so...

 

yeah I heard that the Si tranny is an awesome upgrade for the del Sol S... I might be able to get a turbo kit with intercooler for $1,000 though. I'll know by tuesday if I can or not...

I want speed... some looks. I'm just going to throw a bodykit and wing on it after I get some speed.

i have about 2500 right now..heres my list so far

suspension - wheels - disc brake conversion - engine swap

this is off-topic but i believe a 98 dx coupe has a smaller disc brake than the EX in the front and just drums in the back. i know i am gonna do rear disc conversion but what about the front?

yes. You know what body roll is??? Ever driven a car with bad body roll?? When you shift gears the weight is transferes from front to rear front to rear...well, with suspension, you can keep the weight over the front wheels, enabling you to be faster

its a 94, dont they have obd? i know the first gen B16 dont have obd, i would have to get a second gen B16

i agree with that 100% the money i have spent on my car in the last 2 years i could have paid 1/3 of it off and had a decent mortgage payment. now i have 2 mortgages. but, i also have a beast. so what the hell you cant take it with you when you die anyway. he who dies with the most toys is still dead. and i keep on spending. it truly is an addiction.
