I got this in a last week from Jim. Super fast service, I got it like two days after I paid. Everything was well packaged and the build quality is really nice.

Installation was a little tricky although there isn't much. My A/C line hit the bracket, so I had a bit of trouble with getting it to fit. I had to push the line up about half an inch and now it hits the bracket. I'm a bit concerned since I can see after a while the line wearing away.




For anybody doing hte install, I would recommend putting the radius arms into the brackets that go on the lower A-arm first because once I bolted the brackets to the lower arms, the radius arms were a pain to fit properly. I guess tightening it down tweaked it slightly.

I like these bars alot more than the z10 arms because the radius arms are in enough that your tires shouldn't fit. As for performance, I can definately tell a difference... the front end is much more responsive and wheel hop has improved alot, although I still have a little. But my arms are only tightened 1.5 turns. Overall, a pretty noticible mod and I have no regrets other than my concern over the A/C line clearance. But I'm workong on Jim on that.

The A/C line is aluminum. You can get away with bending it slightly. Tweak it some , it won't hurt unless you crimp the hose.

Bars look good, as soon as I get the money together I'm ordering a set for my ED chassis.

 

uh........shouldn't there be an allowance for a front motor mount? or am i just imagining things?

 

What I did on the AC lines is remove the bracket that holds it. The bracket is near the passanger shock tower. I believe its 2 10mm bolts that hold that in. That allowed me to move the AC lines up and down. If I am not mistaken, there is one somewhere on the lower part by the charge pipe. I removed that one too.

You are thinking for the CRX. The one for the CRX has it I believe.

If you have an aftermarket motor mounts like hasport, I don't see putting one for the front where the cross member at.

 

88-91 Civic's and 90-93 integra's &lt;Any with cable actuated type clutches&gt; have a front motor mount provision.

If you'll notice, the actual crossmember in this write up DOES NOT bolt up like those chassis's either. Those chassis' require a crossmember that bolts up from below, instead of between the frame rails like the 92-00 Civic and 94-01 Integra.

Here is a picture from JimFab's site of the Crossmember replacement bars for the Cable Actuated transmission cars that have a front motor mount attached to the transmission:

 

actually art, the way the DA subframe is set up, there's a front crossbar with radius rods (replaced by the traction bars), as well as a rear subframe bar, both of which run latitudinally. they are connected by a longitudinal crossmember, in an "I" type of formation (or "H" if you're looking from one of the fenders).

does anyone know if the jimfab bars accomodate for this crossmember?

Hmm... good idea Art. I didn't think of that. I removed the one by the charge pipe already to make the bar fit, but it sounds like the one by the shock tower is the key.

im not farmiliar with traction bars, can i drive on the street with them installed with no adverse affects?

 

What confuses me is the fact I have the Z10's on my car and they work great. I've had no negative results with them that I know of either. But while people here hyped them for the longest time, now everyone hates Z10 and hypes the Jim Fab stuff. (as nice as it looks, it doesnt seem much different than what I already have) What gives?

 

Yeah, with the jimfab bars, you should be able to drive on the street with no adverse effects.

As for why the z10 bars are disliked now it has to do with the actual designer of the z10 bars saying they are improperly designed. The radius the z10 bars bind a little as a result. There are a bunch of threads on this, just do a search.

Secondly, the z10 bars cost more than the jimfab bars and they aren't as well made. So ultimately the z10 bars are more expensive, less well made and not as well designed as the jim fab bars, which is why everybody hypes jimfab. Plus Jim has great customer service so that's a big plus.

Lastly, the z10 bars rub the tires at full lock. A big no no if you are driving on the street. The radius arms are moved in on the jimfab bars so that with a stock setup you won't rub the bars. Maybe will substanially bigger tires you would, but in that case you'd be really screwed with the z10 bars.

 

I've got one on my CRX, and I love it!

Makes the steering super precise, and launching is easier, and cleaner to do.

 

Im thinking of buying the Jim Fab ones also for my sedan, now to make sure its for any 4th gen when stated 88-91 Civics, ie. Sedan, Hatch and CRX right??

 

These are on the neverending shopping list for my car as well too.

Anyone run 24.5x8 slicks with them yet?

 

Does anyone know if the jimfab bars will rub on 205 tires in a 92-95 hatch?
