New tires... wtf is up?
I just got new tires for the front rims since I had alot off bubbles on it. Anyway, when I drive local its great. I was on my way home and driving a bit fast and the steering wheel was shaking from side to side. On the left side of the steering wheel it was shaking slightly but from the right it was shaking pretty hard. Do I have an improper wheel balance? Never experieced this problem before. TIA!!
Did they balance your tires, I'm pretty sure they diddn't
if they did, tell them to balance them again.
Nothing major, just tell them to balance your wheels.

If the wheel is shaking at high speeds its only two things.
suspension and wheels.
Since you know its not your suspensions.
Its gots to be the new tires mayan.
Tomorrow morning take the car back.
Did you just get alignment done, maybe they didn't do that aligment right ?
Just take the car back tomorrow morning. They should fix it.

I'm guessing its the tires. I got the alignment done right after the tires were installed. I got it all at the same place. They even gave me a spec sheet of the alignment and everything seems fine. I guess the tires arent balanced correctly. I'll go back tomorrow. Thanks for the reassurance!!

even before I got the alignment and new tires it didnt shake like that when I drove. I find it odd that after I get the alignment and new tires it shakes like crazy

Also check if the wheel seats squarly against the rotor hub. If these cheak out OK, go have the shop verify the wheel balance again.

Since they did balance the wheel I do agree that it could be that they did not put your wheel on right cause they usually feel a lock when you get it on straight. Just double check everything and then if it's not then it comes down to their work.
dude you stole my avatar...

I would have to say that it may just be a severe case of unbalanced tires and wheels....but did you check the wheel to make sure there were no bends in the....the reason I ask you that is due to the fact you said that you had "bubbles" all over them.
I bet it is just the tires and wheels being unbalanced.

make sure the tire pressure is correct. I had a co-worker here with extremely over inflated tires.. the only reason I knew was because I drove her car and it was so rough. noticed her uneven tire ware.. turns out it was 12 lbs over inflated.
also you could have just bought a new pair of tires with stiffer sidewalls.
But balance must be off.

Do your wheels have hub rings in them? It could be that there not perfect square on the hub when there mounted.
Also, check all the suspension and wheels/tires like everyone said.
I would take it back to the place that did the work and have them double check their work.

All my wheels rotas would shake around 80mph.
I got some hubcentric rings and they dont even wobble at 200mph now.
