Will just the ITR intake cam be adequate?
I am finally thinking I need some ITR cams, but I am on a tight budget.
Will using only the ITR intake cam give me gains?
How much different is the GSR exhaust cam from the ITR one? Is the exhaust cam worth spending the extra money?
Thanks in Advance
PS- Is there anyone in the greater Seattle Area that has ITR cams for sale?

I have already performed the search and found no results that specified you can use just the intake cam. Does anyone know the answers to my questions?

yes just use the intake cam if you're on a budget.. are you going to install it yourself? If you hire someone else to do it, it's going to cost a lot of money, might as well buy the other camshaft
Or for an extra $100 or so you can get the CTR intake cam, it makes a bit more power.
From what i hear the exhaust cam doesn't make as much of a difference. But if you can, i would still suggest getting it.

I ran the CTR intake cam only for a little while. You will definitely feel the gains. I had the I/H/E and just the CTR int cam on a stock '99 GSR. I later added the VAFC when I had the extra cash. If you know someone that can teach you how to install it, go that route so if you decide to add the R exhaust cam later, you'll know how (as well as how to adjust the valves!) Be sure to check the timing after the install though. My timing was too far advanced and I got a check engine light. I brought it back 16 to 18 degrees and it was fine. No CEL since.

I actually felt some pretty good power throughout the whole band. It feels good to have some lower end power, albeit not huge. But well worth the $$. Even after the VAFC, I didn't know how to tune it so I didn't really feel anything until I got it all tuned on the dyno. Even then, the VAFC was more of a compliment to my cam gear tuning. The gear tuning is where you can move your power band around.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Actually ive been hearing that the 00 & 01 R's intake cam is exactly the same as the CTR... this and better ECU makes up for them running better times in stock form than 97 and 98's... this is what i have heard from many folks on the R board from people who know what they R talkin bout... just goin there and ask... they R all cam freaks

Joe: those are <00 specs. The new ones are 1 degree difference from the CTR intake cam. Which is why I'm either going to run 00-01 ITR cams or Toda A's...
