CAI Hissing Sound?
i drive a 92 sedan with a Bomz CAI. When my engine is on, i hear this sucking sound. After having it on my car for months now, its really annoying. I have a friend with the same car and he has the V2 AEM on his and it does the same thing but other EG's ive seen with CAI's dont do this. Possibly a vacuum line leak? I have no clue but i want it gone. Anybody else heard this before or have this problem?
dude u should love that, thats why i bought my cai. i love that hissin sound. if u rev the motor right before u hear the motor u hea the little hiss. its completley normal. and when u shift gears u should hear it too.

Yea my last(first car) was an ek and it was automatic. I think that was why I could hear the hiss from the intake. It was only when it was at half throttle....any more than that and it would down shift and you couldnt hear it any more. But yea you would be amazed....lol no joke i even heard it in my friends car when i was in front of my gf who was driving my car.lol

I love it. At first it didn't make the sound but my cars idle was set low...so we turned the screw alittle bit and BAM noise little noise. I love with I drive by object close to the car with the windows down you can hear it when you are not giving gas. Ahh the little things that amaze me
we get this post every week now. yeah its normal. i like how it sounds though. Girls always ask me if i have a NOS-Turbo Intake. ******* fast and the furious.
thanks for the responses. yeah my car is an automatic and so is my friends. i guess its normal so i wont worry about it. i ahve an exhaust and with its noise plus the CAI noise its real nasty yum yum. anyone got any Tokico's or KYB's for sale? if u want the noise to go away .. adjust the throttle valve on your throttlebody. it is a big flat head screw. right on the mid top of your throttlebody.. this should stop the hissing at idle, or lower the sound...as of when u rev.. it is the filter that hiss or .. piping that is cheaply made too thin... i like the sound
I have the same whistle @ half throttle. on my d16y7, I have found it is unported blowby wholes in the throttle body. If you look closely, i'll bet you have some roughly edged venting in your TB just before the butterfly...
A porting tool, or 80 grit wrapped around a screw driver will fix it but dont get any shavings in your intake manifold, read a haynes manual before hand...
I took my throttle body off to smooth out the wholes, and sanded my aem intake to match it while everything was out... Hope this helps
