Default 2 10" or 1 12" alpine type-R sub

which do u guys think would sound better two 10's or one 12, im looking for nice deep bass, sorry may sound dumb but i dont know much about systems

I vote for 1 12". The two 10's will be louder though.

Why not 2 12's? Your results will greatly depend on the box you build. 1 12" ported will give two 10's in a sealed box a nice fight.

im not sure how much teh 10's weight but im looking for it to be as light weight as possible

If weight is your primary concern, then go with the single 12 (in a glass box, I would imagine).

I'd personally go with the 2 tens.

The reason that i ask is 10 bass is generally a little more punchy for bass like in rock and jazz...where you need the quicker bass....and 12's tend to be a little slower and deeper bass for rap and country....

We have another one!

The "speed" of a sub is determined by the motor, not the cone size. Larger subs are simply more efficient at producing subbass.

Ported 12 tuned low(25-35) will make you very happy then.

I go with most other people, a single ported 12" will be great for you as long as you run enough power to it.
