Mechanical or electrical oil pressure gauge?
If you get a mechanical one and something goes wrong with it...you'll have hot oil ALL over your car and body. NOT GOOD! Go with Electrical Guages for things that involve fluids (that must be run into the car).

(autometer has them) viola, no more hot oil showers.
from my experiance they're equal in install time... you're either running a tube or a wire.
The mechanical is DEFINETLY more accurate and quicker responding... and is the proper way of doing it.
BTW, why do you need an oil pressure gauge?
I had one on my teg and only time it told me that the pressure was different from normal was when the gauge started leaking.
I would get an oil temp gauge instead... see above on weather u should get a mech or elect.

That is almost like saying that if you get an electrical one and something goes wrong with it... it'll spark and start a FIRE under your dash.

If the gauges wether they be electrical or mechanical if installed correctly will work. It just depends on your situation. All I can say is get good gauges, cheap electrical gauges can be damaged with a hard shock or short out, cheap mechanical gauges can leak or pop if pressure is higher than gauge can take.
