SMSP to do production run..
Just talked to Dave at SMSP, they have gotten to the prelude build list, which is 8 people.. He would like to have 10 before they do it, anyone else want to jump in for this production run??
Will be 4 Piece, so the subframe won't have to be dropped, w/ adjustable length secondaries, 2.5" collector.. If interested contact SMSP w/ IM, or e-mail him at smsproducts@earthlink.net

if you can pm me the final price shipped to 95841 within an hour i might be intertrested. I just ordered a greddy but i may be able to cancel. also i need to know FOR SURE when i will be getting the header.
The header will be a 4 piece design with stepped primaries. It will consist of the set of primaries, (2) secondaries and the final collector. It can be configured for stock or modded engines. All the tubing will be stainless steel but the flanges will be cold rolled steel similar to how other custom header shops build their pieces. There may be an option to have the header and collector flanges made from stainless steel but that will be more money and will not provide any performance gain.
The header will have a 2-1/2" collector and will require a test pipe for the track or a 2-1/2" cat for the street. The header will utilize a flex joint with a graphite donut like all other Hondas.
I'm trying to get some pricing of the manifold flanges right now so I don't have a firm price.
I should be able to have 10 finished about 6 weeks after it becomes a go. I hope to have some pictures by Friday evening of what you guys should be expecting it to look like. I'm just finalizing the drawings today and hope to have the primaries and secondaries finished tomorrow along with the other stuff I have to ship out.
I may also do a 2-1/2" cat back system for the Prelude if the interest is there. I believe the only difference between the 4th and 5th gen cars is B pipe length but I'm still looking into that.

Holy $%#& there is definate interest in a full system... I would love to have a full 2.5 constructed for my 4th gen... However I don't want to wait until august to get a 2.5 inch exhaust... I would but that whole setup... based on dyno #'s of course.. Please post dyno charts... Also how are the secondaries adjusted? By who?Would that be done on a dyno..? Or by Dave based on ur mods list?... thx
Here are the dyno runs of the 3 prototype headers. Header #3 is on Corey's car now.
Run #13 Header #3 1/04/03
Run #16 Header #2 1/04/03
Run #10 Header #1 8/1/02
The #3 header is the following
The production header won't use the formed collectors like on #3 above but true merge collectors and tubes 2-4 will come out further and #1 will stay close to the block.
Guys, I got to run.....I'm late to meet my wife for dinner.

damn it, well i am pretty sure i am going to cancel my greddy header order, or at least buy something else with the money i already sent to turbo evo. If corey had posted this a day later i probably would have had a greddy
Anyways, I will be emailing you Dave and sending you my deposit shortly.
One last question, i know this was probably covered in another thread, but will there be a stainless steel finish option? Please let me know.
Sorry, i know i have been bugging you guys, heh

It's a H22 header with a 2-1/2" collector. It WILL NOT bolt up to the stock cat or B pipe so some modifications will be required. So it will fit both with modification. If I need to determine what would have to be done differently from the header/cat to the tip to determine how hard or easy it would be to build the entire system. Right now, I'm guessing it is a length issue of the tunnel tubing and if so, that's no big deal.
If you want to get the most out of the header you'll need a good exhaust after it.

That is very much true..
That is very much true..
I am currently running a stock exhaust system. I would also be interested in purchasing an SMSP cat back as well.
Do you guys have any reccomendations on what exhaust systems will make the most out of the header? custom 2.5 piping with a 2.5 high flow? (i am keeping the cat..) and n1?
are there any off the shelf exhaust systems that would work well too?
thanks
