i have a 95 gsr with AEM CAI and i have soem Type R cams. I was wonderign if the intake manifodl will mess it up at all with teh dual butterflys. also will teh vtec crossover be to low for teh cams? THANKS
i dont think they would slow him down... but greater gains would be realized ALONG with bolt ons.
heres what i dont get at all. people are so into putting the bolt ons on their car, which only yield 5-10whp total...and they cost around $1000-$1500 on average for the three. (we're not talking high end here...no toda/hytech/smsp). that seems to make sense. but then when you're talking about $400 cams (ITR/CTR) which would probably yield at least 5whp on a stock motor, then it doesnt make sense anymore?
if i had the money, i would buy the CAMS (and gears) first and install them. they'll yield decent power as is, and then when you finish the bolt ons, go off to the dyno and extract more power. point is, though, there's no wrong order to do these things. cams seem to be a good bang for the buck mod.. you could certainly drop in ITR cams at stock settings (no gears) with no mods and have more power.

i do not see any reason why those cams would cause him to lose power the only thing they would do is make his vtec pull stronger because of the larger lobes. i would say put them in if you have them
it would slow him down because there would be a huge vtec dip since it would be at the stock x-over. then it would take forever to wind up and bring the power out
u gotta raise the vtec to at least 5k on those cams to make good power

Yeah, a VAFC would be very helpful if you're putting in cams. I have I/H/E/C and Type R cams, and I feel the dip after 4400

I am not experiencing this "dip" you speak of with the x-over at 4400. i have ITR cams in a stock b18c1. Same for one of my friends. But he did notice a really bad "dip" when he put his skunk2 im on.

Yea. I heard Skunk2 Stage 1's will pass. They even come with a CARB Sticker now.
I'm tryin to pass with all my mods still on my car, since I'm running on Stock ECU, Stock TB, Stock Cat. Converter, Stock etc.

So the stage1 cams are emissions legal now? I checked their website and it says CARB EO pending. err I guess what I'm asking is does the carb certification mean it's street legal or that it simply meets emissions standards?

I herad you can actually use the GSR valvetrain if you don't plan on upping your rev limit.

skunk2 stage 1 will pass only if you put it in a bone stock engine. i think, could be wrong

its there. put it on a dyno, you'll see the dip. if u have a vafc...raise the vtec to 5k, then come back and tell us about it

i have heard that many times...but i am about to put ITR cams in my GSR so i would like if someone would clear this up for me...do you have to switch the valvetrain??...or is it just like, "recommended"

if you dont plan on getting a new ECU to eliminate the 8100 reline, you don't need to
