Default electrical problems with 88 rex si

Ok, I'm going to try and explain this as best as possible.

While driving the other day, yesterday, I was driving a wee bit above the speed limit going through a tunnel, I switch lanes and my cd player turns off, I turn it back on, few minutes later turns back off, then I notice my temperature gauge was fluctuating. It looked like when I used an electrical device it would go up, for example, I would depress the breaks and the gauge would go up a significant amt & my clock would dim, as well as the lights on the dash.
Also, on my lunch break today, the car died on me in the parking lot while I was driving, the lights are extremely dim when I attempt to turn them on, and If I put the high beams on, the car dies down slowly.
I had a friend stop by to take a look at it, I put the key in the ignition and showed him, when I took it out the lights on the dash remained on, put the key back in, took it out then the alarm went off and continued to go off until I put the key back in.

Has anyone come across something similiar to this or know what it might be, I want to say altenator, but I also could not restart it after I put the key back in the ignition to stop the alarm.

Holla back.
