Default obd 1 conversion question

it says that you havta extend the wires going into the stock block temp sensor. i hava an autometer guage and i dont use that sensor anymore and i cut the wires for it. it is going to be a bitch to try to extend them now so my question is: do i need to use the thermostat sensor that is on my z6? if i leave it unhooked will i get a c.e.l??? (check engine light). because i really dont feel like hooking them up.

thanks alot

The sensor from the back of your old block controls your fan. You don't hook it up you get no fan.
