Default JDM Header bracket and stripped threads?

i installed my header bracket today and in the process stripped out the threads on one of the holes that bolt threads into. I was even using a torque wrench. Is there a fix for this? I was thinking of just putting a longer bolt in, but don't know how far the threads go. Also is the part that the bracket bolts to the LSD?

heh, you obviosly missed my warnings in my old post. stripped the threads on the left bolt (facing forwards) eh? if you compare the USDM and JDM bracket, you'll understand why, the JDM is much thicker, and requires a longer bolt. if i recall correctly, it's a 12mm, after i stripped mine, i went out, bought a longer bolt and 2 nuts at joe schmoe's hardware. compared the required lengths on the USDM bracket, i can't explain it, but put the left bolt in the USDM bracket (left hole), and put the new bolt in the other hole, cut the new bolt until they would be the same depth in the block. uh, **** it, i can't explain it, you need a longer bolt because only like 3 threads were contacting. a jdm bolt. check my install thread.

I understand what your saying. do you remember how much longer the bolt was? I don't want to pull the bracket off again- pain in the *** to put on. Hey, were you in york, PA last weekend? I saw a white ITR with gunmetals at the sunoco gas station off 83 and the driver kinda looked like you.

To get an idea of how long the bolt you will need is take a paper clip flatten it out until its a straight line, insert it into where the bolt would go and put a mark on the paper clip remove it and you now know roughly how long the bolt can be

yeah dude, that was me in york last weekend at the sunnoco. heh, crazy.

anyway, what i was trying to say, is that you can use the USDM bracket to find the correct length bolt.

here's a little step by step, it's simple, but i can't explain it by typing (cause i'm a retard)

1) buy long 12 mm bolt with the same threads as the old, and two nuts (and a washer).

2) using the USDM bracket. put the old bolt in the left hole (facing forwards), put 1 nut on other side to hold it there.

3) using the same USDM bracket, put the new longer bolt in the hole on the right side (facing forward) with the washer on the bolt side and put the other nut on the other side.

4) look at the bracket top down. and trim (with dremel etc) the new bolt so that it is aligned with the end of the other bolt, in a horizontal axis. now, you have the correct bolt length for the hole on the left side (except the new bolt is still installed in the right side hole).

5) remove new bolt, and install into left side of JDM bracket.

email me or i can give you a call next week when i get back from FLA if you need more help.
