convert my 96 ls to a vtec?
heres the deal: i got a 96 integ ls with some minor mods: aem cai, custom exhaust and dc sports headers along with a highflow cat, skunk2 coilovers, skunk2 short shifter, sway bars and **** but nothin much else. I got a friend who just payed a bunch of cash for a new type r engine but i dont have that cash and plus the ls has more torque so i was wondering if i should save up money for the c5 or go with the vtec upgrade.... help out please
ls v-tec
you already got mods on you car so stay with it. plus dont get c5 just cause your frienf got it. be different. but its up to you. imo i would go ls vtec.

aight i know what you mean its just i dont wanna be left in the dust by my friends 90 integ ya know? plus i heard that ls vtec upgrades go pretty bad anyone had any experience or more advice?
also i hear that besides ls vtec conversions goin bad they have to have more than just the head and high compression pistons and minor stuff, someone told me you need a bunch more stuff soooo im lost help me out and send pics if anyone has an ls vtec or any experience with these conversions.
LS-VTECs can be reliable you just have to build it up right. And to do it right, it's gonna cost a good bit. My friend put about 8G's into his fully built LS-VTEC, his **** rips tho...
like he said. ls/vtecs are as reliable as the quality of the build. just dont slack off and itll be alright. i think im at about 200 at the fly, (im not sure, i wanna get a dyno) so you wont need to worry about being left in the dust. if you do go with ls/vtec, get a gsr or type r head if you can.

it isnt all that much hp that your missing out on. it can be made up, but it is a pretty significant amount. and the vtec engagement is a nice plus. so you wont be screwed, but itll take a little extra to get your engine up to that speed

yeah, what they said. a g2ic member had ls/vtec turbo daily driven at 411.x whp in a sedan, lasted him well over a year with only "normal" maintenance..oil changes, spark plugs, the usual. never had any problems with leaks, overheating, or anything like that. he sold the car, and it was cherry still when he sold it. properly building it is everything.
