well with proper maintenance.. i've seen them go for well over 200k on this board even. i'm sure things may break down on u along the way, but then you can always replace watever is fucked up wit an upgraded perf. part.

if u plan on upgrading the internals than it would be a good idea since ur gonna be rebuilding anyway. even though these engines last a long time u might want to look for one with less miles.

It all depends on if you do it yourself, and if you build it for performance or an all oem parts rebuild. There is a place I saw on the net that advertised complete oem rebuilds for b series at around $1500.

like C_tech97GSR said, it depends on what you have in future for your motor and if you want aftermarket or oem parts.
if you just want as a daily driver, then just drive it until it dies. then rebuild.
if you want a race motor right away, then rebuild it right away.
