Default b18c1 lifetime?

What's an average number of miles these bad boys last? Looking at one with 155k, likely been run fairly hard.

Thanks guys, I don't know much about b-series motors, all opinions are greatly appreciated!

How much would a rebuild cost me doing labor myself?

well with proper maintenance.. i've seen them go for well over 200k on this board even. i'm sure things may break down on u along the way, but then you can always replace watever is fucked up wit an upgraded perf. part.

if u plan on upgrading the internals than it would be a good idea since ur gonna be rebuilding anyway. even though these engines last a long time u might want to look for one with less miles.

It all depends on if you do it yourself, and if you build it for performance or an all oem parts rebuild. There is a place I saw on the net that advertised complete oem rebuilds for b series at around $1500.

i'd likely do the work myself (with a mechanic friend's aide) using aftermarket parts.

like C_tech97GSR said, it depends on what you have in future for your motor and if you want aftermarket or oem parts.

if you just want as a daily driver, then just drive it until it dies. then rebuild.
if you want a race motor right away, then rebuild it right away.

what are your plans for the engine/car?
