I know of a couple of people who did it to their cars (I should go take picts of their car) and they said that it was a bitch to do. One guy had to basically fab up a new fuel rail in order to give enough clearance that was needed. A lot of cutting in welding, but when it was in the car, it looked good. Both cars had the HCP kit and with the manifold in, there was almost 3-5 extra inches of room between the manifold and the firewall (both obviously took their motors out of the car to do this mod install).

Is it possible to take out the intake manifold with motor in the car, using hcp mounts on a ek?

I think it is. In a EG all I have to do is disconnect the rear mount bolt and the exhaust and the motor can tilt back and forth a good 6" or so, enough to remove the IM.
