Stock Vs Spoon brakes in daily driving?
Hey dudes,
Do 4 pot brakes like the ever-so-popular Spoons make any difference in daily driving? I know the benefit of the bigger brakes include less fade and more even pad wear, but do you notice any difference when you're just driving around normally, or do you pretty much have to be stomping on the brakes to see the difference from stock?

stock = fine
spoon = bling
you'll get better pad wear and modulation with the sp00m's though.. but for the 1200 or whatever they cost.....

Ask Wai about the Spoons.
I personally don't think the extra added force is needed on the street. You really can't even use the full potential of the ITR brakes on the street. I mean, when was the last time you were braking at the threshold from 100mph?
I'm really excited to try them out one day in someone's car on the track (or swap them to mine for a few laps, haha), but the stock brakes pretty much own to begin with, and for $1300, you can buy alot of other neato stuff that would be more beneficial wherever you drive.

For everyday driving, those calipers look nice.
As for handling, you *might* be able to feel a little difference because your suspension is carrying about 8 lbs less of unsprung weight.
edit:
from SCC, I remember seeing an article (with all the calcs) saying that reducing 1 lb unsprung weight is equivalent to removing 4 lbs in the cabin for suspension movement. So having reduced 16 lbs total, the suspension would respond like having 64 lbs removed from the cabin.

Last time I ate White Castle and needed to get home to take a ****
But you're right, they're pointless for street driving.

stock caliper's are more than enough for street and race driving. Absolutely nothing wrong with stock ITR calipers, stainless lines, nice brake fluid, race pads, and a well surfaced rotor

i got those spoon calipers. they work very well under extreme braking but for street driving it is a waist of money. not needed on street driving at all. like everyone else mentioned stock is good enough

if you think that stronger brakes are not meaningless for daily driving, why do you wanna have ITR??????
other cars' brake works fine for daily driving, they can make you stop!!!!
and other cars can travel at speed limit or keep up with travel without any problem
why the hell do you want a ITR???BLING BLING BLING for the same reason~~~~
If your have a weak argument or don't have a argument at all, please STFU and read stop posting garbage.

WTF are you talking about? I think proper punctuation would actually help in your case because your post is just confusing and makes absolutely no sense.
If you are saying people want an ITR because it's bling bling and therefore should get the spoon calipers, then you are a ******* tool.
Maybe you did buy your car for that reason, which is fine, but not all owners do. Wake up.
Spoon calipers don't help at all on the street. They give you better pad wear and modulation. None of that makes the car stop in less distance. They don't have a special anti-police system that makes them stop better than stock in the case of seeing a cop up ahead either.
I like how spoon brakes feel, but for daily driving? they are a complete waste of cash. Even for road course duty I don't think they are worth it. Maybe if they only costs $600 they would be worth it for road course duty though.. maybe.

8lbs less unsprung weight is a nice added benefit... people readily upgrade to lighter wheels to reduce unsprung weight, so to shed 8lbs of it AND get improved braking on the track is
in my book.
but for daily driving, i agree. overkill.

it is 8lbs, but it's pretty close to the hub.. it also doesn't rotate.. so the effects it has is going to be less than lightweight wheels will be on accel and decel.. which is virtually nothing anyways... but the suspension will be carrying less mass still so there is still a little bit of benefit from the weight savings.

i think you understood me the other way around
i meant i don't think spoon brake are bling
some of you said it is... and their reason were "you don't need to brake hard on street" and "it's BLING"
i counter their argument using their reasoning....
i am sorry, if it was hard to understand for you dawhiteboy....
