Arghhh Kyos are such amazing pieces of ****. One day while I still had them I had to quick take off my wheels to tighten some bolts down. The last lug on my passeneger side wheel was really hard to get off, I turn it and then the Kyo crossthreaded onto the stud and then broke the stud off behind the wheel so it would spin and spin but wouldn't come off. I had to drill out the center of it enough and smash it off. It was a huge bitch to do.

After you solve your problem do yourself a favor and order some McGard Splinedrive Lug Nuts, they are great, have the security (or more so) than the Kyo, and will never cross thread as they are made of strong material.

hahahaha. i had a feeling the kyo was a piece of **** when i first got em. so i guess the only way is to drill out my lug nuts? i have 3 wheels i cant take off now cuz of stupid stripped key. cant believe the key is weaker than the lug nuts. what do you think about the gator grip? will it take it off? thanks.

i don't know if the gator grip can hold up to that kind of torque, but snap-on, mactools, craftsman, etc make a stripped/locking lugnut removal kit that works great. i use the snap-on one at work all the time for those damn things. don't drill em if you don't have to.

but the lug nuts are 7 point 7 sided nuts. and most tools are 6 point/sides. so what will make it grip? how about hammering a 16point socket on it?

a gator grip will grip anything, but i just dont think those little pins will hold up to ~130 ft-lbs. the snap-on kit will also remove them, though. i don't know if i've seen any 16 pt sockets before. did you mean a 12 pt socket? i wouldn't go ****** up any sockets.

I ran into the same problem when the Kyokugen key stripped all of the lugs. If this happened to you, go to your local Sears and get a hold of a set of "Bolt Out". Its only $20 and its not hard to use on your Krapokugen's. Just use the Bolt Out size that closely fits Krapokugen's, next use a hammer to hammer it in tightly. After that use a socket (forgot what size) that fits on the Bolt Out and use your breaker bar. Then magically it comes out. It takes time though the Bolt Out nuts tends to get stuck on the Krapokugens lugs. Just use two vise grips and twist them off. Hope this helps any of you guys.

my lugs are super fine. all look brand new and i take my wheels over every other month or so and ive had them for over a year.

If you torque them down to 80 ftlbs they will be fine. The new versions have thicker keys too.

OK..... tell me step by step on how you tried to get to lug nuts off? Maybe I can determine what else you need to do. Did you tried spraying WD40 in the opening part of the lug nut. This process will try to loosen the lugs a bit.

i sprayed wd40, hammered the bolt out in..and when i use the the right size socket on the bolt out...it just slipped. it made the lug nuts even worst.

If you follow the directions and don't monkey nut them on, or let a SHOP monkey nut them on, they work as they are supposed to, which has been perfectly every time for me... 5 times taking my wheels off and on in the last year.

sorry to sound like a retard but I have never heard the term "Monkey Nut Them On" could someone explain this to me. Also how many turns do the bolt have to go around the nut in order to be safe. I get around 6.5 turns all the way around and dont feel safe at all. Will anyone be nice enough to answer my questions.

"Monkey Nut" is a technical term meaning overtorque.

Honda says 70 ft lbs is plenty to hold the wheels on. The kyokugen's are rated to 100 ft lbs, I think.

ANY impact gun or breaker bar will supply over 100 ft lbs of torque without difficulty. Getting a 3/8th's ratchet pretty damn tight is good enough to hold a wheel lug in place.

Amount of turns on a lug depends on what wheels your using because the offset spacing and the design of the lug pattern area has EVERYTHING to do with how many threads are showing beyond the face of the wheel your using.

So if these lugs suck what do you guys recommend, without breaking the bank?

Just curious, because I need some new lugs soon.

MacGard's are good, and there's a few other black lugs out there from Gorilla Lugs, and others.

Ask your local import wheel shop what they recommend, then look for them online for half the price.

Chiltons and most things I have seen say Torque them to 80ft-lbs. The Kyo box said a range of 80-120. Common sense would tell you just to use your cars proper torque specs.
