Bottom End Problems, Please Help!
I have a gsr and the bottom end is burning oil like crazy, its too big of ajob to rebuild it on the car so i am planning on just getting a new bottom (almost new) bottom end, cleaning the head and putting it back to together. As for my bottom end now, either rebuild it and sell off the car, or sell it cheap as is.
The question is this, I can get a great deal on a good gsr bottom end, but then all i have done is make the car stock but new again.
Should I put an ls bottom end and my gsr head on it. If so will the skunk 2 intake manifold fit, and will it rev up 8000, do i need to change pistons or connecting rods or can i just put the ls block on it and make more power?
What about my head, should i put a civic type r valve train or integra type r valve train , which one will make more power, should a shave the head while its off or what should i do with the head.
recap : which is better gsr bottom end, or just ls bottom end with vtec head, which is stronger?

Too many questions nested together here.
But let me try to help ya.
First, Since your bottom end is messed up already...I recommend you taking it out and getting it rebuilt with higher compression pistons and possibly stronger connecting rods. The reason I would not recommend using an ls block is because you already have a gsr block and why waste money. It also takes time to sell blocks.
Second, I hear the CTR cams are a better bang for the buck. Between the 2...I can't tell you which on will give you more power because...I don't know. I ran Skunk2 stage2 before and they were kool. If you get cams...definately upgrade the valvetrain for added security.
Third, I would not shave the head because...there is little to be gained from it. What I would do is get a port&polish job on the head.
Hope this helps somewhat....

just rebuild the block you have and kick in some extra cash for some pistons to bump up the compression a little....then it'll be like having a new motor again you'll be spending a lot more money if you decide to go with the lsvtec set up: getting the block, pistons, rings, maybe even rods....etc..... so just stick with your block.....hope this helps in any way....peace
