Aux Input for my Factory Radio - Prelude
I have the stock factory radio for my prelude... i like it cause it works fine (and it's an alpine), but i have a car-dvd player that has rca outputs and i want to be able to hook that up to my factory stereo. I know you can hook up an alpine CD changer to the radio so i was wondering if there was an adapter that would give me rca inputs to plug directly into the radio (for best sound quality)?
I know i could use an FM modulator but those usually sound like ***... unless you know of one that is surprisingly good, i would rather find a way to hook the RCA inputs directly up to the radio.

fm mod is what i was going to recomend. btw, how do figure that your factory stereo is am alpine? just cause you can plug a alpine changer into it doesnt mean its an alpine. you still need an adaptor to make it work. if i remember to check at work tomorrow, i will look at my perepheral book to see if they make an aux input piece for the changer plug. i dont think they make one for your car but they do for others like the newer beamers.
Soundgate makes auxillary input adapters that plug into the OEM CD changer input. I'll have to double check @work too, but I'm 99.99% sure they have a Honda application, but I've never seen one before since most people with Hondas are willing to change their deck. Blitzsafe makes one.
You can probably even try using a 98-02 Honda to Alpine M-bus changer adapter (~$90) along with a Alpine KCM122B M-bus to dual male RCA aux input adaptor cord ($15.99).. that would probably work too.

Cool... thanks for the answers. I will wait and see what you guys come up with. I don't want to do the MBUS thing cause that would make it too expensive! I was just looking for a cheap $10-$30 solution.
I got the pinout for the din and they have Left & Right input pins, so i was thinking that one of the other pins must be a voltage or something telling the radio that it is hooked up to a changer (so when you hit the CD button it allows that option to be chosen)... if i figure that out then maybe it will work and i can hook my input signals directly to those other two pins. I know one of the pins is a data bus, that prolly tells the changer what disc to choose and etc... but since all i need it to do is just have an RCA input into my radio then i can ignore that pin. ideas?

Just be warned! We tried using a soundgate adaptor on a 2003 toyota, and without the XM box being plugged into the adaptor... we plugged it into the factory radio and *poof* smoke. Doubt you'll have that problem but my first experience with one of their adaptors, and it didn't make a good impression
