Default Chain Questions

I am doing the 520 chain conversion on my 1995 honda cbr f3. I did the one tooth down in the fron and up two in the back. The question I have is: I was trying to put the master link in the chain and it does not go in very easy. I tried forcing it and it won't go. I was told that there is a tool called the Drive chain cutter to use. But the tool cost over $200.00. I don't want to buy on e to use it only once. I was also told that take it in and have it done. Is there an easier way to get this done? Is it possible the master link is broke?...is it supposed to go in real easy?. Any help please?

depends on the type of chain. there is the master link, where you put it together and there is a clip that goes over the link and holds it. these are more prone to breaking because of the chance of the clip coming off. and there is the master link that is a rivet. to put the link on, you need a rivet tool to peen out the roundholes after the link is put together. the rivet tool is about $50 at a parts store. not sure what kind of link you are talking about

You shouldnt have any problems getting the master link through the holes of the links. Not sure what the problem is. It should go right through.

This doesn't sound right. I've done it many times and the link should slide straight through. Check for small metal rivet like things from the factory. Maybe there are just little pieces of metal from the manufacturer that is not allowing it to slide right in. Other than that, I cant think of anything else. Even w/o lube, that link should slide perfectly.
