Ok, here it is...i was thinking of getting a mugen clutch with an exedy flywheel, yet it turns out to be about $800 un-installed...
... but my mechanic says that CM clutchs and ACT clutchs are really ruff materials and can hurt the tranny. What clutch should i get that would be go0d and not as expensive as the mugen one?

Try the Action Clutch. Give Kyle a call or email at KS Motorsports. Info is in my signature. Let him know your concerns and the performance expected and he'll point you in the right direction...
yea, I am doing an all motor setup, I am puting in a jdm prelude type s clutch and flywheel, the flywheel is lighter and stronger, and the clutch is a lot stonger too, and its factory honda, so there are not going to be any problems, not to mention its CHEAP
I imagine it must be a pretty stock pedal feel, I am getting the clutch, lighten flywheel and rebuilt tranny from a friend out in cali for half of what your mugen setup was costing, try jdmparts.com they usually have stuff, give me a day or two and I might be able to find some other places. My friend says a lot of tuners build some sick motors but stick with the type s clutch, i guess it is pretty tough, it's not stage 5 clutch, but will make a soild daily driver setup

yea but i dont feel like spending money on something similar to stock i want more of a crisp shift and quicker acceleration...what you think?
yeah, the clutch is a totaly different design then the regular h22/h23 clutch, so it will be better, but I cannot tell you how much, hopefully I will be able to tell you in a few weeks if all goes well with my lude
do you guys argee with his mechanic about the ACT and CM clutches? i hadnt really heard that before. I was thinking about getting a ACT XTSS and i wasnt aware that this would screw anything up?
My theory is that anything much stonger over a stock clutch is going to put more strain on the tranny and axels ect for the simple reason that the new clutch is goning to grab harder and quicker then the old

yep thats what he said ... so thats why im worried about which one to get. Also an e-mail from kingmotorsports, just told me to keep my stock one unless i do some serious up grades, that their scca car has a stock clutch still. so i dunn0 what to think or do?
Thats why I was thinking of the type s clutch, in a previous post i think someone
said that it was slightly better than stock, I dont plan on turbo/sc/lots o nos, so I dont need a high performance clutch. I was just thinkin maybe an exedy oem, if what 93ludesi said about it putting strain on the tranny, im not about to replace that.

I think your friend is pulling your leg and just wants to get his extra parts out of his garage. A seriously doubt a Type-S clutch is much different than a regular H22 clutch. And the flywheel....I've never heard anything about the Type-S having a lighter flywheel but I guess its possible. Regular H22 is 18.5lbs, what ist he Type-S?
