Default d16 semi-stock tuning suggestions for98 civic ex

going to be buying a 98 civic ex w/a d16z7 soon. right now it has:
a dc sports header
2.25 cat back(custom) with a magnaflow muffler
aem cold air
bbk big bore tb
and b&m short throw.
what would you do next if it was yours? im wondering about computer upgrades and what i can do to make the most out of what is already in it. dont want forced induction yet. and what about these apexi controllers? can i use the vtec one on a sohc d16? what about jet module or venom module ? HELP

your car has a d16y8, never heard of a z7. those jet and venom modules aren't worth it. the vafc can be used on your motor if u wanted. for that money i would think of getting a new cam.

thanx for the info sohc. somebody told me the venom was weak and the jet was barely better but at the same time he didnt really sound like he knew anything about cars-i just dont know much about hondas(4 now). the d16z7 thing came from a honda engine chart out of a summit sport compact cat. regardless i think im going to change the title! HEY! what about an e-manage system? thats not out of my price range....and i did see parts for "d16z" on modacar last night for civic...not that i know either way, i just thought the info i had was right when i saw that.

No the e-manage is a bit overkill for your level go with the cam idea change the springs and retainers if you can not really necessary though. Get a good ignition system. loss weight and get a good clutch a stage 2 would be great for street and also a BM fuel gauge and adjustable regulator and that should keep you happy for a while. If you still want more a NOS kit with like a 50 or 70 shot wll be good to be street fast. Good Luck And Happy Honda Tuning

thanx maxx. do you think the super afc would be overkill too? i just have trouble (thinking about it-wise)with trying to manage all those mods(though not many) with a computer made for a car thats only intent is to be peppy and fuel eff! is that retarded? am i just underestimating the car/computer? i guess even if overkill-would it help(s-afc) if i added a cam like you guys are saying? sorry so many q's guys! but there are a lot of posers around here that add a k&n and boom can muff
and think they have the ****,so i think there should be some actual tuners around here.

only dif between safc and vafc is you can control vtec activation with the V...u can get hte Vafc if you want...but for the 200+ id get a mechanical part...

ok im heading for cam and ignition land! NOW,what do most people go with for cam grind/brand? and what ignition sys? the reason i was so set on a afc was that i probably wont know when i need one and i figured if it wont hurt or maybe help a bit i would install one. i may not need one, but im thinking future upgrades would/could use it, and i think they look BITCHIN. i know thats a weak reason, but i havent seen anything like that around here yet, and im terrified of detonation!!
193hp on my old datona turbo untill fuel couldnt keep up then BANG!! ,then i promised myself i would NEVER run the COSTLY risk of going lean again!! that mistake cost me over 2000 bucks wich is REALLY BAD when you work at a chrysler store and get parts for 10% over cost!!!

friends dont let friends run 17psi w/o intercooler on stock internals!!
