Looking at an Si, give me your input!!!
Looking at a 2000 EPB Si with 36k miles.
AEM pulleys and cam gears
Comptech header, exhaust and lowering springs
Tokico 5 ways
What should I pay for this? Should I worry about the cams or anything being misinstalled and blowing up? Let me know what you guys think

didn't know AEM made cams.. but some people refer to cam gears as cams... make sure you know what your getting from this guy.. for me I hate buying a modified car you never know what they did to it .. good luck I'd pay no more than $12 for it
They won't know you have the gears as they are hidden under the valve cover. I have never had an issue with smog due to having them installed. You might fail the sniffer depending on the settings however. The pulleys are a waste of time and so are the gears on an otherwise stock engine. I wouldn't worry about anything being installed incorrectly as you don't have any major mods on that car. You did not mention them ever changing anything like cams or pistons, so it should be ok. I sold my 99 Si with 42k miles that was 100% stock for $11,500. They just don't seem to be selling for as high as they used to. Check kbb.com to get a better idea for the market value in your area. I would not expect to pay more for mods. Mods, in my opinion, only hurt the value of the car... That is unless you can find someone who is willing to give you what you want for them.

My thoughts exactly...
And check KBB and offer a little less than that

I have an Si, i like it alot, but i wish i would have bought a GS-R. More torque and nice seats. I would pay 13K for that particular Si, but it really depends on its condition. I bought mine 3 years ago, a year old, w/ 22,500 miles for 15K.
paid 12.9k private owner for mine , no tax, with 55k on it, and the one i had before that i totalled had 65k and i paid 15k with tax n everything

i feel 100% the same way, love my si to death, but would rather be driving a gsr.
and why not buy a stock one that most likely hasnt been ragged out as much as the modded one. and put the money into it yourself?

you should buy a car that is FULLY BONE STOCK, and fix it up the way u want it. Y buy a car that someone had built. Or u can have the exciment of building ur own car. like the first time i got my intake, i was so ******* happy. or when i got my exhaust, i was so anxious to drive it. BUILD THE CAR THE WAY U WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!. but yeah thats just my two cents............. ill pay 13 for it.
I like my 00 Si. It's a great daily driver and is actually a very decent autocross and track car. I was looking for a used GSR when I bought the Si but couldn't find one at a decent price.
If I had to do it all over again, I would either spend the extra $ and buy an ITR or get a hatch. Of course, where I live I don't have to worry about theives.

My friend just bought a 2000 Si with 27,000 miles on it for $16,000...the dealer really bent him over on that one but he does have a 7 year warranty and some other special stuff so I guess its kind of worth it..
I told him to save up another 4k and buy an ITR but he doesn't listen
I wouldnt pay more than 14,500 for that SI with 36,000 miles on it....

Obviously, the guy that put the mods on the car you are looking at cared more about the appearance of the engine bay than he actually did the performance. Cam gears don't do anything unless you tune your car (and to do it right you need a dyno), and the pulleys are only good for about 4 HP at stock. I have run the hell out of my '99 Si (with a fair amount of modification, only internals are the ITR cams), it has 72,000 on it, I drive it everyday and take it to redline almost everyday. It has never given me the slightest problem at all, and I don't expecct it will (next mod is getting new valve springs and retainers, though). I would feel good about buying this guy's car, but I wouldn't pay anymore because of any of the mods. Good luck!

$16,000 is not too bad if he got a 7 year 100,000 mile warranty. That alone is probably worth $2500.

A car as such would go for about $14k-$16k up here in the NW. I got my EBP 99, stock except for H&R springs, perfectly straight body, no interior flaws, one owner, clean title, carfax guarentee, imaculate, 16k miles, for $11k a couple months ago. But that was a real good deal for that car.
My brother has his FBP SI for sale right now, 99, less than 50k miles, Tokico springs/struts, Injen short ram, super super clean and flawless car but a theft title, $10,500. Insurance is owning him since he is only 23 and not the greatest record. Same reason he had to sell his RSX-S. Prob going to build him a hatch with a swap.
