This is a newbie question like hell. Oh well, everyone learns from somewhere. I raced a 89 CRX Si today and lost by like 2 car lengths. He had a 89 CRX Si with magnaflow dual exhausts (catback with highflow cat) and short ram intake. I got a 94 all stock del Sol (non vtec). He also had 17's on his car and so hes says, "a bad clutch", thats the sad part.

After we raced he asked me if I stage my car. I said no, I let the clutch off and go. I got him 1st gear, 2nd gear, but 3rd he passed me and pulled a little, 4th pulled some more. We stopped before we got to 5th. Maybe my question about staging is gay, because I got him off the start...

Think after I get SKUNK2 catback with highflow cat and CAI I'll get him if we race again?

Arent Si tranny's geared differently also?

Did you race him at a track? I think he's using dragstrip lingo.

wait so you raced a crx si.. vs your del sol.. the si has better gearing.. and honestly he should of beat you. forget all that I/H/E crap just get NAWWWZZZ.. but seriously your not making more than 100whp.. and he's maybe breaking 105whp with his exhaust. and with his better gearing that is what probably made the difference.

 

He beat you b/c:

Your car is heavy
Your engine is shitty
Your gears are even shittier

You got a better take off probably b/c like you said, he has a bad clutch.

 

OK, that explains it all. I wish I had a VTEC sol!!!!
