okay, does anyone know what the redline of a stock DOHC ZC engine is? Im talking like being able to race and shift at the right RPM without ******* some serious **** up. I have a DOHC ZC engine, and i just got a tach cause my RPM on the cluster was broke, so im wondering what to set the shift light to and where i should be shifting to get the most out of my Car. BTW my car is a 91 CRX HF, nice and light
. Any info will help, fill me in. Thanks.
Also, im pretty sure i have a pm7 ecu in my car, but im not sure, how can i check? The guy who owned the car before me said he wasnt sure if he gave me the pm7 or not. If not, ill prolly be getting one of these. Can they safely bring the redline up to 8200? Thank.. Peace

ZC redline is 7200...to see what ecu it is...take it out from under the passenger side dash and check the code on the ecu...
Redline is at 7200 and the fuel cut is a little bit above that. Pull up your passenger footwell carpet and remove the four nuts holding the ecu cover plate. Then look on the side of the ecu at the barcode and in the middle of the series of numbers should be the code
PM7-ZC ecu
PG7 88-89 integra ecu
PM6 88-91 civic/crx si ecu
I would not suggest taking the stock zc to 8200 rpm. The valvetrain most likely will dislike that.
Plus the stock ZC doesn't make any more power up there.

the most i;ve taken my dohc zc to(on accident, missed shift-crappy clutch cable) was about 7400.....it seems fine after that, but i was worried. i usually shift at about 7,000 at the track....i figure thats pretty safe.
Its funny that people are saying the 89 teg's revlimiter is about 7200, it's at 7800 I think. I had one with my zc, and I also had a chipped PR4 ecu, and I've taken it to 7800 for a few years and with the chipped pr4, I've taken it up to 8000 oops a couple times. Still have good valves though.
Plus you have to remember the gauge cluster is usually off horribly so a 7400 might be 7800 in reality. I know on mine when it looks like I'm at 5100 and should be kicking into VTEC in actuallity I'm at about 4700.

Revlimiter is 7200 , Fuel cut off is 7800, i believe. I'd shift at 7000 on stock internals. I fried my first ZC's piston rings by slapping the fuel cutoff to many times, mainly becuase i didn't have a tach. Hehe, now i'm fully built, can't wait til it's done.

Just to throw a little more in the mix, I think the fuel cutoff of an 89 teg ECU is 7500 rpm. Mine shows close to 8000 rpm on the tach by the time the cut off hits. 7200 sounds closer to an 90-91 Si ECU.
For every day hard driving I shift mine at about 7000. At the track I shift right before the fuel cut (now that it's turbo), I used to shift right before the cut without letting off of the gas and let the cut keep it from blowing up
... Before you do that, you'd better be able to shift really really quick... as in just ever so slightly slower than the synchros can handle.
My ZC was still making good power well beyond 7000 rpm according to my dyno chart. That was past the peak, but it was relatively level up there, so I wasn't losing much power. The longer I held the revs, the closer I came back in to the peak on the next gear.

it's funny how everyone has a different limiter on the teg ecu. Maybe all of our tachs our off, who knows. I know the difference between a pm6, pm7 and pg7 ecu. I ran a pm6 in my zc for over a year and a half and the limiter was set at around 6500-6700 rpm and nothing above it. I installed my pg7 ecu and limiter is set at 7200 rpm until this day. There's a possibility my tach is off but how would I fix this I never fooled around with it or removed it ever since I bought the car 2 years ago.

Maybe somethings up with your car. When I had my pm6 I revved past 7K on many occasions. Now that I have my pg7 I've gone past 7200 more than once. I have a video of me doing it once actually. I'd post it but Im at school.
