Default Help Car won't start, I have no spark....

Ok here's the setup, the motor is a b16a2 head from a 00 civic si, and a obd 1 gsr block (no crank fluc. sensor), ecu is a p72 hondata, only cel its throwing is code #6 which is low coolant (didn't put all the coolant in yet so this code make sense) other than code 6 no other codes. The distributor is from the 00 civic si as well. The motor cranks fine but there is no spark, i tested it by leaving a spark plug in the ignition wire while my friend cranked the car...no spark was jumping across. this is the same with all four wires.

Could a bad ground be causing the car not to fire?
Is the distributor bad?
Does it have to do with running a obd 1 block with a obd 2 head?

what procedures could i take to troubleshoot this?

thanx

i would go with your 2 top ideas. check for a bad ground, make sure your ground bolts are not painted and are not connected to a painted area. check the internals of the distributor for loose connections, and always remember to check fuses.

well fuses are all fine...can a bad ground prevent the motor from making any spark at all, i would think it would still fire just with a bad ground...no? what should i look for when i take the dist. cap off besides the coil connection? BTW thanks for the reply.

Yeah, the rotor may be stuffed, so no spark passes between coil and plugs

Check all your grounds...Tranny to frame ground in very important for a car to start. If all else false borrow a friends dizzy for a few mins and try it out. Might be a bad ignitor, rotor, etc

You check the coil terminals for resistance.

Stick your finger in and see if you get a shock when you turn it over
