whats the difference between buying a racing cat and clearing my stock cat?
is there a difference between clearing my stock cat and buying a racing cat...
which one would be better? thanks

The racing cat prolly has a smoother internal surface for air to flow through.
Taking a hammer to your stock cat to **** it all up would be just cheaper and maybe work just as well.
The racing cat prolly has a larger diameter piping too.

"Clearing your stock cat" is illegal first of all and secondly if you find the right cat then I would assume that a "racing cat" would be better. I hear good things about carsound cats but if you break all that ceramic **** out of your stock cat it should be about the same.

the diff between hi-flo and a test pipe is about 1hp. why risk the fines for just 1 hp?

The difference is the racing cat continues to clean the engine emissions like the stock one does, but allows a higher flow. Gutting the stock one obviously does nothing to help clean the emissions.
