Its goes to the VTEC solenoid.

Unlike all other "B16 retunes" the ZDYNE B16 One Wire Conversion comes complete with VTEC solenoid control built into the ECU. Full VTEC operation with sensitivity for water temperature and throttle position. Fuel and ignition curves are doubled and recurved for correct operation of VTEC and non-VTEC modes. Perfect for B16A VTEC engine swaps or D16Z6* / D16Y8** VTEC head swaps

I've got one for my mini-me. It's pretty good and expensive: $330. I suggest some sort of vtec controller (just to move the engagement point lower 45-4600) as there is a drop between the primary/secondary cam lobes.

is the ecu programmed to be more performance oriented, too... or just an alternative way to add vtec with a stock fuel & timing map?

i just called the number 1-818-888-5350 and a rep picked up and spoke to me. we actually ended up having a 20 min conversation about ecus for a z6 and about turbo later. yeah, the first time i tried to fax my order form it won't go thru cause they keep their fax machine off cause of junk mail, and you have to call so they're expecting it. also the number on the site is different. (818-340-1770 if you're interested.) the rep said i will get it buy friday and i ordered today. he was saying to get the z6 tune cause it runs better, like a p28 obd0. apparently some of the guys that work there tested it for a while, used a b16 tune, and preferred the z6 for driveability and performance. and if, scratch that, WHEN i go turbo i can send the ecu back in, pay the difference for the gold tune, and control everything. i am interested in your ecu though. i would like to try it anyway, or if not my friend really needs it. his feel's chip is ******* him up. let me know about the ecu.
