After i release the throttle at around 3k, i hear metal clinging.. it sounds like something is falling apart, but then goes away after 4.5k before i bring it in to have it checked out i was wondering if anyone else has this problem? i remember reading it before but no straight answers and the search thing isnt helping me with that damn recent & and archive shugar..

 

get under your car, and check for a split exhaust heatshield..maybe bent.who knows..

Yes, sounds like a heat shield, if it is a tinging sound (metal to metal). Do you recently do any mods to the car?

 

no not recently, however someone.. im not gonna mention any names (4dr-gsr) (Tom) took part of my hear shield off and left the bottom part there... u think this could be the rattling?

 

The heatshield could be a possibility. I had a rattling problem and it turned out there were rocks lodged between my heatshield.

Although this could very well be your problem since your heat shild has been altered lately, its not the usual problem integra owners have with this sound. Usually its a cracked A-pipe on our headers, and the remedy to this is to either get it fixed, or most people end up getting an aftermarket one and viola, problem solved.

 

You know, I think I have a similar problem right now. When I let off throttle, around 3k or so, I can hear a slight hiss...then it goes away.

Is this a crack in my headers? A-pipe rattle?

I've got GC/KYB AGX's on my 98 GSR, lowered about 1 1/2 inches. Comptech Rear Sway Bar, and an AEM CAI. At first I thought it was the AEM just hissing...but now I'm thinking it's more or less the header. Anyone else with a similar situation in the past or right now?
