Failed wheel bearing
Anyone had a failed wheel bearing on their car before? Can you tell me how they looks and sound like if the wheel bearing is failed? I'm having some noise from the front wheel and I want to know if it is from the bearing.
btw....is ITR front bearing same as GSR?
Thanks

I had my wheel bearing fail after an event. Steering wheel will shake at high speeds, you'll hear a clunking from the wheel. Easiest way to tell is to jack up the car and with the wheels on, check for play. Grab the wheel on the top and bottom and try wiggling it, then grab it on the sides and try again. If there is any play your bearing is probably shot.
A heavy moan, hum or even a grind coming from the effected corner. Gently steer the car left and right while driving and you'll hear it get louder/softer as load changes. Front wheel bearing is the same part for Civic/Integra, only the hub itself is different. Need a press to get it in/out.
lrp killed one of mine too. the berring will make a funkey gridning noise. likna like when the dust shield is scraping on the rotor. the sure fire way to check is to shake the wheel. id u pull the axle nut off and shake it, ull realy know if its tossed. mine didnt move when i shook it, but when we pulled the axle nut there was some play and when we took it apart it was definately wasted.

when I do this.....should I put in gear or having someone to hold the brake or the steering wheel?
I'm having a lot of metal contact noise...but i'm sure they're not from the brake, that's why I need to check the wheel bearing.
thanks

that's the exact noise I'm having right now (even after I remove the brake dust shield).....I will check the wheel bearing to see if it help.
Thanks a lot guys

I bet its NOT the wheel bearing at all!
Its probably the hub ring that is supposed to crush fit into the knuckle and help seal the axle. If this is loose as it was on mine for a while, it will make inconsistent "pingy" scratching noises but have no other effect like actual movement and wheel play. Just take off the axle and pound the ring back on.
Quite frankly, a bad wheel bearing doesnt make a scratchy noise. it will HUM and get increasingly louder by speed, almost unbearably loud while driving.

wheel bearing are different because I thought civic and teg shared similar suspension when replaced the wheel bearing, I took out my old damaged bearing and compared it to the new civic one. that's when I realized the civic is smaller the teg is bigger.(I have integra suspension) just my .02

Would the hum go away when you turn the wheel as you go down the road?
Not sure if I have a shot bearing or just the effect of Azenis road noise and a stripped rear interior...

I've got these exact symptoms. At 75mph, it'll start shuddering like it's an unbalanced wheel, but there's not horizontal play in the wheel from what I've been told by friends driving next to me.
When I'm just rolling down the road (clutch in) over small imperfections, it'll clunk and knock around a little like there's something loose in the suspension, but there's not.

Azenis make a lot of road noise especially with a stripped interior, but if it was the wheel bearing, youd know it.
