anyone done a CV boot replacement on a 91 accord?
Wanted to do it before it does more serious damage. What steps are necessary? Does not seems to be difficult since I've done it to my truck and wants to see if someone can help me here. Thanks very much.
it is not that hard at all as long as you know how to turn a wrench. and from what you said you can
to start lift vehicle and suport
remove tire
use a 32mm (i think) driver to remove the CV axle nut
pound the cv lose in the rotor
then start removing the bolt that connect the shock to the fork
remove the fork from the lower control arm
wiggle the fork out of the way
remove the nut that connects the lower ball joint to the lower control arm
use a ball joint splitter (looks kinda like a tunning fork) to seperat the lower control arm from the spindle
once that is all lose use a large flat-head screwdriver or pry-bar to seperat the cv from the tranny
!!!!!!make sure you have a catchcan for the trans fluid cause it will come out!!!!!
that should be it
this is how i do it and it takes about 30-45 min as long as i dont run into any snags
to install just revers the steps
also befor u start make sure you have the fluids you need and also if you have a second car you should remove the old one befor you go get the new one(call and make sure they have them) and that will save you a "core charge"
hope this helps

not a problem
i learned the hard way and dont think everyone else should have to
so i share what i know
but i do make mistakes and i could have missed somthing
i forgot to tell you to watch the brake line you might have to remove it from the spindle
not the caliper just the spindle
you dont want air getting in that line it will mess things up

Robert, which socket is it? Is it a 32? 34? or 36mm socket for the CV axle nut? BTW, the boot that's completely torn is the outer boot.
I too learned the hardway and am still learning. That's the beauty of using these BBS forums so that you can gain and share a wealth of information to everyone.

i thinks it the 36
its one of the bigest ones
you could call the auto parts shop and have them see what socet fits the spindle in the store
i dont have my toolbox nearby but i can check when i get home if you can find out
